Many women wear makeup daily. It is a wonderful thing to help hide blemishes and improve overall appearance, making a lot of people feel more confident in themselves and their looks. This bride was probably terrified when she saw the end result of her makeup. After all, you can hardly see her face through all the cakes and layers of makeup that the makeup artist put on her face.
This woman looks very naturally beautiful and most likely did not need that many layers of makeup and foundation on her face at one time.
Mannequin Makeup
Some people might think that it is a good thing to look like a mannequin, however, here is an example where that is not the case. It is hard to understand what may have been going on in the makeup artist's mind when they were doing this woman's makeup, but the end result is quite shocking. It looks like they were trying to contour, but were not particularly successful at it.
The end result does not really look human and the stripes resemble a zebra, only with different colors. It is certainly a striking look if you can't say anything else.
From Natural Beauty to Bratz Doll
Do you ever look at before and after photos and have a hard time figuring out which is the before and which is the after? This may be the case here as you see a naturally beautiful woman on the left and a shiny and artificial look on the right. The look on the right really makes her appear to be a Bratz doll, with the bright pink and purple eye shadow and the sparkly cheeks.
Although they seem to know how to paint with makeup, they also seem to take it too far. This look could have worked by using half the amount of makeup.
There Is Just a Lot Going on Here
Although the first thing you might notice when you look at this makeup photo is probably the enormous eyebrows, there is so much to digest. Now, there is nothing wrong with big eyebrows, but this makeup artist took things to the next level and made them disproportionately large. And then as you continue down the face you see that the rest of the work was not much better and the colors were quite intense.
Did they run out of foundation for the lower half of her face? Why does it cut off so abruptly and why are there so many colors of eyeliner involved here?

At first glance, you might think that this is actually a filter that was put on the photo and not really what this woman looks like. They weren't even able to match the color of her skin when they picked a foundation, and yet they continued to use an excessive amount...not even blending into her neck!

It certainly is a bold look, especially when combined with interesting and unique eyelashes that do not cover the entire eyelid. The lipstick shade accentuates the look as well.

There were plenty of times when bronzer was all the rage. People were caking it on like there was no tomorrow. However, most people knew that they needed to use it evenly over their face and neck so that it looked natural and even across their bodies. However, it seems that this MUA was not in the loop and decided to just put an excessive amount of bronzer on this woman's forehead.
She also put a little bit of bronzer on her cheeks, but there is also a very strong white line between the forehead and the cheek that shows the gap.

This was very close to being a successful makeup look. The eye makeup and eyebrow work suit her face perfectly, however, the foundation and the coloring that they chose to use are quite off. Not only did they choose this strange gradient and fade effect, but they also made part of the effect slightly green towards the bottom. If there is one color no one wants their face to appear, it is green.
Maybe they used a filter to bring out the green undertones in the photo so that her green eyes would pop more. After all, the green hairclip also appears to be a bright green.
A Bright Blue Laser in Between Her Eyes
A little bit of highlighter is always nice to have in between the eyes. It helps to brighten up the face overall and makes for a happy and youthful look. People also like to experiment with all sorts of different colors for the highlight, as can be seen here with the bright neon blue. Maybe it is because it is against the neon orange, or because it is a neon blue, but it appears to be a lot.
The blue highlight is so bright that it's hard to notice all of the other issues that this makeup work entails. You only really see the bright blue.
Caught in the Wrong Lighting
This looks like one of those makeup attempts that looks very good in a certain lighting, but the moment you walk out of that lighting, everything changes. She seemed to do everything right in her makeup look, but then it did not come across as looking the best in the lighting that this photo was taken in. It looks like she needs to do a little bit of blending.
The idea of the look was a good one, but the execution was not the best. Maybe she will be more successful on her next attempt.
Is That Makeup or a Filter?
Whether this photo is just a lot of makeup or if it is the result of lots of filtering, you may never have the answer (although the answer is probably both). However, this makeup job is actually not quite as bad as some of the other ones on the list. Although she chose a foundation shade about four times darker than her skin, she at least blended it into her neck.

The Truth Behind a Full Face of Makeup
From a different angle, this may be one of the most beautiful appearing makeup looks. The colors do seem to coordinate nicely, with the eye shadow and the nails, and the blouse. However, with the harsh light from the sun, things look very different. She just looks like she has far too much makeup on and the look is not doing her as much justice as it could if there was less or different lighting.
At least the colors do coordinate quite well, even if the makeup doesn't look that great in this angle and lighting. It is still a good shot though!
There Is Overlining the Lips and Then There Is This
Many people are overlining their lips to give them the appearance of being fuller and bigger than they naturally are. It is a trend that started with the Kardashians and has trickled into the rest of the world. However, some people seem to take it a little too far, as you can see with this woman. When you look at her the first and only thing you can see is her lips.
Maybe that is what she wanted...for people to only see her lips when they look at her. If that is the case, then she succeeded in her goal very well!
Maybe the Look Is Better From Afar
If there is one thing that can be said after looking through all the pictures on this list, it is that too much makeup is never a good thing. Either it will look caked on or it will look crinkled and creased like this. Maybe this is also the result of poor-quality makeup...or maybe a combination of the two things. However, less is usually more at the end of the day.
Maybe if they took this photo from farther away then it would have come across as a better makeup look. The overall makeup is ok, but the cakey aspect is too much.
Not the Best Way to Promote Mascara

But who wants mascara that looks like this?
No one wants to get a mascara that is cakey and thick like this. People want a mascara that is without clumps and appears natural and light. This ad is having the opposite effect on buyers.
All Was Good Until the Lips
Of all the pictures on this list, this woman actually seems to have the nicest overall makeup. It blends and fits the color of her face, it does not appear caked on or overdone, and it looks natural and pretty. However, it seems that they might have overdone it a bit when it came to the lips. They are trying to advertise and promote the lip tint as well, which does not seem to be going over well.
Not many people want this to be the look that they have when they put on a little bit of lip tint. Most people prefer a more natural look.

If you are going to brag about the power of makeup to the world, don't you think that you should make sure that the image you use is showing how makeup can be powerful...in a good way? Either the people who make this ad thought that this was an example of good makeup or they were trying to prove the opposite point, but either way, it is a confusing promotion.
This is not the image that would make most people want to get the "full glam" look of makeup. But maybe some other people also think that this look is a good one.
Holiday Glam in Full Force
This is probably saving the best for the last. And best in the true sense of the word as this is perhaps the best makeup look on this list of fails. Although it is not great, it is the least shocking of them all. It is a bit intense and not very natural looking, but that is the look that many people are going for. And so maybe this holiday glam look is for them.
